Saint Joseph's College was established in 1916, being founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood, and was originally named St. Joseph's College for Women. It has 2 campuses in New York City, one in Brroklyn and one in Long Island, through which it offers its students undergraduate majors, pre-professional and certificate programs, with graduate degrees in management, business, health care management, human services, nursing, accounting and education.
The athletic teams from the Brooklyn campus are known as the Bears and the ones from the Long Island campus are nicknamed the Golden Eagles, both competing in NCAA Division III.
